Here are some favorite HyperCard tips and tricks submitted to us by our readers, as well as a few others gathered from various public sources on the internet. For now, they are roughly categorized by subject matter, and searchable using the Excite search engine. Excite returns only whole pages, which may not pinpoint exactly what you are looking for. You can implement a more specific search on your own by using your browser's "search" feature to find keywords in the returned pages.
What you see here is just a beginning. As readers like you submit their favorite tips and tricks, this area will continue to grow, eventually expanding into a valuable library of information for all HyperCard developers. If you have a HyperCard tip you would like to submit, fill out our tips form and share the wealth. Don't be constrained by our category headings -- if your tip does not fit into an existing category, we will create a new one to hold it.
Where permission was given, the web site of each tip author is linked to their name. Some of the tips you will find here are commonly known to many HyperCard developers. The name under each tip represents the person who first made the submission to this site, although often that person is also the original author.
You may be able to rewrite a sample script to run faster or more elegantly. We encourage you to do so as you script your stacks, but elegance, though appreciated, isn't the primary goal of these pages. We hope you will take the tips provided here in the spirit in which they are intended -- as ideas on which to base your own scripts, for which the code snippets are merely examples.
On the other hand, if you find an actual error or inaccuracy please contact us and let us know.
